IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Five

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Port Huron right wing Jamie Carroll has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week, Muskegon center Maxime Lincourt has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week, and Kalamazoo goaltender Jason Tapp has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 16th, 2008.

Carroll wrapped up the week scoring a total of six points (3g, 3a) and had a plus/minus rating of plus-four in three games played. He scored the game winning goal Tuesday versus Bloomington and Saturday in the shootout victory over Flint. He was the only shooter to score in the season's first shootout. The 25-year-old Andover, Connecticuit native is currently riding a five-game point streak (4g, 5a) and a five-game assist streak (5a). Carroll currently leads the Icehawks in scoring, registering a total of 14 points (7g, 7a) in 12 games played.

Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Brett Holmberg, Flint forward Josef Fojtik, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Kalamazoo center Glenn Detulleo and Muskegon right wing Frank Littlejohn.

For the second week this season, Lincourt earns the weekly honors. He dished out four assists and had a plus/minus rating of plus-four over two games played. He notched three of his four assists Friday in the Lumberjacks 5-4 victory in Fort Wayne. The 21-year-old Montreal, Quebec native is currently riding a seven game point streak, notching in four goals and six assists during that span. Lincourt currently leads all Lumberjacks rookies in scoring with 12 points (6g, 6a).

Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington forward Jacob Anderson, Flint forward Justin Styffe, Fort Wayne forward Sean O'Connor, Kalamazoo right wing Bryan Jurynec and Port Huron goaltender Kevin Desfosses.

Tapp finished up the week unbeaten with a 2-0-0-0 record. He had a .949 save percentage and a1.50 goals against average in the two games played. He only allowed three goals on a total of 56 shots he faced. The 30-year-old Kelowna, British Columbia native played in his 300th career game Friday versus Flint, earning the 6-1 victory. Tapp also set a season high for saves in a game Saturday with 31 versus Fort Wayne. He currently leads all IHL goaltenders in minutes played with 538:13 and saves with 237.

Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Scott Fankhouser, Flint's Chad Alban, Fort Wayne's Sebastien Laplante, Muskegon's Isaac Reichmuth and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
