Kalamazoo's Daavettila Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J ‚¬" Kalamazoo ‚¬Ë†Wings forward Trent Daavettila is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for February.

Daavettila scored 22 points (8g-14a) and was a +15 in 14 games during February, helping lead the K-Wings to a 10-2-2 record for the month and moving the squad into first place in the North Division.

The 26 year old had six multi-point games during February and he scored at least one point in 11 of his 14 games during the month. Daavettila had two four-point games in ‚¬Ë†February - he had a hat trick and added an assist in an 8-5 win against Greenville on Feb. 12 and notched four assists in a 5-4 win over Toledo on ‚¬Ë†Feb. 27. He closed the month on a seven-game point streak (2g-12a).

Daavettila, who was named ECHL ‚¬Ë†Player of the Week for week ending Feb. 13 and ECHL ‚¬Ë†Plus Performer of the Month for February, leads the K-Wings, and is tied for third in the league, with a +19 rating on the season. He has 60 points (21g-39) in 55 games this season to rank fifth in the league while his 39 assists are tied for third.

A native of Howell, Michigan, Daavettila scored 49 points (19g-30a) in 51 regular-season games with Kalamazoo last season and added five points (3g-2a) in five Kelly Cup Playoff games. He appeared in 20 games with the K-Wings in the International Hockey League in 2008-09, scoring 18 points (9g-9a). He has played in 16 career AHL games with Grand Rapids and Adirondack scoring three points (1g-2a).
