Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce the organization raised and donated $32,375 from the 26th Annual St. Patrick's Day Green Ice Jersey Auction.
A fair share of Saturday's sellout crowd of 5,413 stayed after the game to bid on the K-Wings special St. Patrick's Day jerseys. At night's end, the three highest bids were for the jerseys worn by Tyler Willis, Kory Karlander and Ryan Nie. Willis's jersey received the high bid of $4,600. Just missing the highest bid was Karlander, whose jersey went for $4,500, while Nie's went for $4,100.
"Once again our fans have shown how generous they are," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "The jersey auction was a great way to cap off an excellent night."
The money raised will go to the American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Susan G. Komean Foundation, Domestic Violence Coalition and Community Advocates.
On Saturday, April 7th, the K-Wings will host one more jersey auction this season, as fans will be able to bid on the teams Outdoor Services Warm-Up Jerseys. Also at the auction, the K-Wings will auction off a 2005-06 Colonial Cup Ring. The fan with the winning bid will have his or her name placed on the ring and sized to their specification.
