Another four-game week came and went for the Rockford IceHogs and the club grabbed three points during Week 23. With the exception of an empty net goal scored by the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, all three of Rockford's defeats were by just one goal. The Hogs have yet another four-game slate set for Week 24 including three home games.

Transactions:

-Rockford winger Kaleb Betts was placed on the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Friday, March 16

-Rockford winger Robin Big Snake was activated from League Suspension on Thursday, March 15

-Rockford winger Robin Big Snake was placed on League Suspension on Wednesday, March 14

Bacon Bits:

Rockford center Preston Mizzi accumulated 11 points in the IceHogs four games during Week 23.

The IceHogs will play eight of its final 11 regular season games at the Rockford MetroCentre and won't leave the state of Illinois for the remainder of the regular season.

Hogs defenseman Nathan Lutz has been whistled for 14 minor penalties over his last six games.

Defenseman Dan Boeser has a goal in three straight games. Boeser has five goals overall this season.

The IceHogs hit the 40-win plateau for the third straight season with its win over Quad City last Wednesday.

The IceHogs had never won more than 35 games prior to the 2004-05 campaign.

Center Preston Mizzi set the Hogs single-season short-handed goals record with his fourth shortie of the season on Saturday in Fort Wayne.

Mizzi is now the Hogs all-time leader in goals (64), power-play goals (24) and short-handed goals (5).

Week 24 marks the IceHogs third straight four-game week. After Sunday's game against Quad City, Rockford will have played 12 games in 19 days.

Hot Hog Week 23:

After a week of struggling on the offensive side, center Preston Mizzi provided more offense in Week 23 than the club as a whole produced in Week 22. The Hogs centerman accumulated 4g-7a-11pts for the most prolific offensive week of the season for any individual Hogs skater this season.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, March 21 vs. Chicago Hounds. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. The IceHogs 2006-07 regular season schedule begins to round the final turn for home as the club drops the puck against the Chicago Hounds. It's another Dollar Days at the MetroCentre with the Hogs and rock station 104.9 FM, WXRX.

Friday, March 23 vs. Bloomington PrairieThunder. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The final game at the MetroCentre this season between the IceHogs and expansion PrairieThunder. The Hogs and ComEd present one of the team's most popular promotions as its Nathan Lutz Bobblehead Night for the first 1,000 fans.

Saturday, March 24 at Chicago Hounds. The game is slated for 7:30 p.m. Rockford returns to the road for a short trip down I-90 to meet up with the Chicago Hounds at the Sears Centre. The two clubs will play three times in the Hogs final eight games.

Sunday, March 25 vs. Quad City Mallards. The puck drops at 3:05 p.m. The Hogs final Sunday home game and final game during the regular season with the Mallards. It could be a Colonial Cup Playoffs first round preview and its another Dollar Days with 97ZOK and the IecHogs. Sunday is also another Skate with the IceHogs after the game presented by CoCo Key Water Resort.

HogTalk Returns This Week At Shooter's North:

Bud Light HogTalk returns this week at Shooter's North. The show is hosted by Chris Toltzman and Mike Peck tonight as WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T have the night off. Monday's show will feature IceHogs skaters Bruce Watson and Nicolas Corbeil. The show runs from 7-8 p.m. and also features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. Come on out and talk IceHogs hockey and take advantage of some Bud Light specials at Shooter's North.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6 you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. Once again this season, ESPN"ˆRadio "The Jock" 1380 AM will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings for game times and dates. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops.
