Moline, IL-The Mallards moved to within one point of clinching their 12th consecutive playoff berth with a pair of victories last week. The team began the week with losses to Chicago and Rockford at The MARK on Tuesday and Wednesday. Over the weekend, the Mallards earned a road win in Chicago before coming home to beat Flint on jersey auction night. The team wrapped up the busiest week of 2006-07 with a 6-5 loss to Chicago on Sunday at The MARK.
The Mallards begin the week needing just one point to clinch a berth in the UHL post-season. The team gets their first shot at securing a playoff spot on Wednesday at The MARK. This weekend, the team is on the road for three games beginning on Friday in Fort Wayne. Saturday night, the team journeys to Fort Wayne. The week ends with the final regular season meeting with the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday at The Metrocentre.

This Wednesday, the Mallards host Bloomington on NASCAR Night. Tony Stewart's dirt track car will be at the game. Lucky fans will have the opportunity to win NASCAR tickets with roundtrip airfare, Chicago Blackhawks tickets and Tony Stewart autographed merchandise. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

Alumni Weekend presented by the Lodge
Saturday, March 31st at The Lodge / Sunday, April 1st vs. Muskegon
The Mallards first ever Alumni Weekend is scheduled for March 31st and April 1st. On Saturday, March 31st, Mallards alumni will be at The Lodge in Bettendorf for a meet and greet with fans while the Mallards road game in Bloomington is airing LIVE via the b2 Networks. On Sunday, April 1st the Mallards alumni will take to the ice before the Mallards game vs. Muskegon. Sunday, April 1st vs. Muskegon 3:00 p.m. at The MARK
The Mallards wrap up their home regular season schedule on Sunday, April 1st. The 3:00 p.m. face-off with the Fury will be preceded by the Mallards First Ever Alumni Game. During the game vs. the Fury, the VH1 Save the Music Battle of the Bands will take place. If you are a member of a local band that would like to win an opportunity to fly to New York City to perform for record labels, contact the Mallards office at (309) 764-7825. The team will be wearing specialty jerseys during the game that will be auctioned off after the contest with proceeds benefiting the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

A possible preview of the opening round playoff match-up for the Mallards looms on Friday night in Fort Wayne. It's the final time this regular season that Quad City will face the Komets.
Saturday, March 24th vs. Flint 6:30 p.m. central time in Flint
Quad City visits Perani Arena for just the second time this season. The Mallards are 5-0-0 vs. Flint with Saturday's night match-up and an April 6th showdown left on the regular season schedule.
Sunday, March 25th vs. Rockford 3:05 p.m. central time in Rockford
The Mallards and Hogs lock horns for the final time this season on Sunday. The UHL's most intense rivalry might also offer a preview of the Mallards opening round playoff series.

Duck Talk is back at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge tonight. Goaltender Brad Smith and forward Travis Granbois will join host Aaron Roof and Mallards Head Coach Brian Curran. The show begins at 6:00 p.m. at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

Tuesday, March 13th - Chicago 3 at Quad City2
The Mallards suffered a 3-2 loss to Chicago on Tuesday night at The MARK. Matt Johnson scored the game-winner for the Hounds with 4:44 left in the closing period. In the opening frame, Don Parsons scored his 36th goal of the season with 34 seconds gone. It marked the 621st goal of Parsons' professional career, just one short of tying Joe Mullen for first on the All-Time Goal Scoring List amongst American-born players. The Hounds netted back-to-back goals before the first period ended to take the lead for the first time. Kelly Miller scored one minute into the opening frame before Tim Plett netted his 12th goal of the year to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead after one period. Chad Woollard scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game at two. It was the 28th tally of the season for the Mallards leading scorer. In the third period, Johnson capped an end-to-end rush with his seventh goal of the year to earn the win for the Hounds. The defeat marks the end of an 11-game home ice unbeaten streak for the Mallards. The team went 9-0-2 during the run and matched a UHL season high for consecutive games without a loss.
Wednesday, March 14th - Rockford 8 at Quad City 1
The Mallards tied a season high for largest margin of defeat with an 8-1 loss to Rockford on Wednesday at The MARK. Blake Stewart netted the lone Mallards goal when he opened the game with a tally at 2:18 of the first period. It was his seventh goal of the year and gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead. Bruce Watson scored the first of three goals at 5:27 of the first period to tie the game at one. It marked the first of five power-play goals for the Hogs. Jason Ralph followed with a four-on-four goal that held up as the game-winner. Mike Doyle added the first of his three goals with 1:59 left in the period to give the Hogs a two-goal cushion after 20 minutes. In the second period, Watson scored twice in the first 5:19 of the period to complete his hat trick. Nathan Lutz scored the fourth Hogs power-play goals of the night less than three minutes later to set the score a 6-1. Doyle finished off his hat trick with a pair of second period markers including a power-play goal with 2:13 left in the period. Jake Moreland replaced Frederic Cloutier in the Rockford net to begin the third. The Hogs netminder stopped all 20 shots he faced in the closing period as Rockford improved to 40-18-5.
Friday, March 16th - Quad City 5 at Chicago 1
The Mallards scored a 5-1 win over Chicago on Friday night at the Sears Centre. Five different Mallards scored in the win while Jason Tapp stopped 25 of 26 shots to earn the win. A scoreless first period featured four power plays for each team. Neither side was able to convert as Jason Tapp made eight saves for Quad City and Marty Magers answered with seven stops for Chicago. At the 7:01 mark of the second, Chicago defenseman Tom Zabkowicz scored to break the scoreless tie. Zabkowicz scored just as Sergei Durdin exited the penalty box to begin a Mallards power play. The Mallards stormed back to record three consecutive tallies and carry a 3-1 lead into the third period. Sean Starke started the scoring when his centering pass for Chad Woollard deflected off a Hound and found the back of the Chicago net on a Quad City power play. The Mallards added a second power play goal when Woollard beat Magers for his 29th goal of the year. Brett Pilkington added his 24th tally of the season before the middle frame closed to stake the Mallards to a 3-1 lead. The Mallards clinched the win on third period goals by Jeff Petruic and Justin Chwedoruk.
Saturday, March 17th - Flint 5 at Quad City 7
A wild finish highlighted the on-ice action on Genesis Jersey Auction Night on Saturday at The MARK. Mallards Captain Patrick Nadeau earned first star honors after he scored his second goal of the night with 1:48 left to put the Mallards in front 6-5. In the first period, the teams exchanged goals as Justin Chwedoruk scored his first of two goals for Quad City followed just 27 seconds later by a Shawn Snider goal for the Generals. In the second, Mike Kinnie scored just 2:39 into the period to give the Generals the lead for the first time. The Mallards recaptured the lead before the second ended when Chwedoruk scored on the power play and Nadeau recorded a shorthanded tally to give the Mallards a 3-2 lead after two periods. A wild third period featured seven goals. Jeff Zehr netted a power-play goal to tie the game at three early in the second. The Mallards pushed back in front when Luke Stauffacher scored a power-play goal for his 34th goal of the season. Flint's Jan Jas scored just 1:24 later to pull the Generals back to even. Quad City's Chad Woollard and Flint's Bobby Reynolds recorded goals just three minutes apart late in the third to tie the game at five. With just 1:48 remaining Nadeau scored on a goalmouth scramble to give Quad City a 6-5 edge. Dale Lupul added an empty netter with three seconds left to secure the win.
Sunday, March 18th - Chicago 6 at Quad City 5
The Mallards participated in a high-scoring affair for a second straight game as they dropped a 6-5 decision to Chicago on Sunday afternoon at The MARK. With the loss, Quad City fell to 31-26-9 on the year. B.J. Radovich was the first star of the contest as he became just the third UHLer this year to score four goals in a game. In the first period, Chicago took a 2-0 lead on goals by Darryl McArthur and Radovich. The Hounds stretched their lead to 3-0 early in the second when Radovich scored his second goal of the night. The Mallards battled back to pull to within one on goals by Derek Miller and Justin Chwedoruk. Chwedoruk's goal game with 1:33 left in the second period and set off a flurry of three goals in 52 seconds. Just 30 seconds after Chwedoruk's goal, Radovich netted his third tally of the night. Not to be outdone, the Mallards scored just 22 seconds later as Dale Lupul beat Brenden Cuthbert and Quad City finished the second period trailing 4-3. In the third period, Chicago re-opened a two-goal lead when Radovich netted his fourth goal of the night. A pair of Luke Stauffacher tallies tied the game at five as the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin native netted his 35th and 36th goals of the year. Stauffacher is now tied with Don Parsons for first amongst Mallards in goal scoring. Stauffacher's pair was not enough to secure the win as Maris Ziedins netted the game winner with 6:29 left in the contest.
Player of the Week
Justin Chwedoruk is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. After being held scoreless on Tuesday and Wednesday, Chwedoruk exploded for six points in three weekend games. He scored a single marker on Friday followed by a pair of tallies on Saturday. Chwedoruk closed the weekend with a goal and two helpers in Sunday's loss.
Goalie of the Week
Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goalie of the Week. He made 13 saves on Wednesday vs. Rockford followed by 25 saves on Friday in a 5-1 win over Chicago. Tapp capped the week with 21 saves in a win over Flint on Saturday.
