K-Wings' Nie Named Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce goaltender Ryan Nie has been selected as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for January 10th-16th.

Seeing action in all three games last week, Nie went 2-0-1-0 between the pipes for the K-Wings.

Nie was stellar stopping 82 of the 87 shots he faced. The native of Naticoke, Ontario finished the week with a goal-against-average of 1.66 and a save percentage of 0.943.

This is the first-time this season Nie has captured the weekly honor and the fifth-time in his career. Last season, Nie won the weekly award twice and led the ECHL with 28 victories.

In 159 ECHL games with Johnstown, Elmira, Bakersfield, Cincinnati and Kalamazoo, Nie is 88-47-12 with 10 shutouts, a 3.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of 0.899.

Kalamazoo will return to Wings Stadium on Friday, January 21st with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the reigning Kelly Cup champions, Cincinnati Cyclones on Culver's Night and Frugal Fan Friday, featuring $1 beers and $1 hot dogs.

Single-game tickets for all regular season home games are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office.
