Stockton's Cameron Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Stockton Thunder right wing Bretton Cameron is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for January 10-16.

The 21 year old scored three goals goals and had four assists last week as the Thunder went 3-0-0 to extend their winning streak to four games.

Cameron opened the week with four points (1g-3a) in a 5-3 win against Bakersfield on Wednesday and then added a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win at Utah on ‚¬Ë†Friday. He closed the week with a goal on ‚¬Ë†Saturday in ‚¬Ë†the Thunder ‚¬â„¢s 4-1 win over the ‚¬Ë†Grizzlies to extend his goal streak to four games.

A native of Didsbury, ‚¬Ë†Alberta, Cameron leads the Thunder with 13 goals and a +10 rating and is tied for second on the team with 23 points in 29 games this season.

Cameron led Medicine Hat of the Western ‚¬Ë†Hockey League last season with 40 goals in 68 games. Over his three-year junior career in Medicine Hat he scored 120 points (62g-58a) in 173 regular-season games and added 13 points (6g-7a) in 23 postseason contests.

On behalf of Bretton ‚¬Ë†Cameron a case of pucks will be donated to a Stockton youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities. Runners Up: Justin Donati, ‚¬Ë†Elmira (4gp, 1g, 7a, 8 pts) and Ben Gordon, ‚¬Ë†Reading (2gp, 4g, 2a, 6 pts).
