K-Wings anxiously await "Cup Craze"

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce over 184 years worth of hockey history will be on display, as the Stanley Cup and Turner Cup will be showcased on Saturday, December 9th when the K-Wings face-off against the Flint Generals at Wings Stadium.

First presented in 1893, the Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes and most recognizable in the world of professional sports. The International Hockey League's Turner Cup was first placed in competition during the 1945-46 season. Kalamazoo captured the IHL's top prize in back-to back seasons (1978-79, 1979-80). After a 26 year absence, for one-night only, the Turner Cup will return home.

"On opening night, we (K-Wings) celebrated 26 years in the making with our organization and fans. This homecoming is a continuation of those festivities," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "Kalamazoo is a hockey-rich community and it will be incredible to witness the joining of hockey linage under the roof of Wings Stadium."

The cups, which will be displayed along with the UHL's most sought after hardware, the Colonial Cup (playoff championship) and Tarry Cup (regular season championship) will be displayed in the Wings Stadium Complex's Cube Viewing Area starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 9th. Viewing of the cups is FREE if you have a ticket to the K-Wings-Generals game on December 9th; otherwise, there will be a $10 viewing fee to observe the cups.

Tickets for the game range from $8-13 and can be purchased at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can also reserve their seats by calling (269) 345-5101 or online at www.ticketmaster.com . Tickets for the Saturday, December 9th contest are first come-first serve, so make sure to purchase your tickets immediately for this historic event at Wings Stadium.
