Mallards Complete Deal with Kalamazoo

Moline, IL-The Quad Mallards announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Kalamazoo Wings. The trade brings defenseman Mathieu Wathier and rookie forward Brett Pilkington to the Quad Cities in exchange for center Glenn Detulleo. Wathier has appeared in 95 professional games, all in the United Hockey League. Pilkington made his pro debut this year with the Kalamazoo Wings.

Wathier appeared in seven games this year with the Wings. The 6-foot-1 rearguard has two points this year on a goal and an assist. Wathier spent the 2005-06 regular season with Danbury and Elmira. In 57 games, he recorded three goals with seven assists for 10 points with 75 penalty minutes. He joined the Adirondack Frostbite for the post-season and was held scoreless in six playoff games. Wathier made his pro debut in 2004-05 with the Danbury Trashers. He recorded four points (a goal and three assists) and 24 penalty minutes as a rookie. In 11 playoff appearances, he recorded one point (an assist).

Pilkington has five points (three goals and two assists) in nine games after debuting with the Wings on November 3rd. He was the first star of the Wings 4-1 win at The MARK on November 12th. Pilkington scored two goals and added an assist in the win. During his college career, he appeared in131 games at Bowling Green State University. Pilkington recorded 90 collegiate points on 28 goals and 62 assists.

Detulleo leaves the Quad Cities after playing 88 games over parts of two season with the Mallards. He had 13 points (two goals and 11 assists) in 12 games with the Mallards this season. Last year, the Timmins, Ontario native recorded career highs in assists (53) and points (70) in his inaugural campaign with the Mallards.

The Mallards return to The MARK on Wednesday night vs. Rockford. On Friday night, the Mallards are in Rockford for a rematch with the Hogs. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show airs at 7:05 p.m. on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230. The b2 broadcast will be available via qcmallards.com beginning 10 minutes prior to face-off.

Saturday night, the Mallards host the Muskegon Fury. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a miniature replica of Jason Tapp's goaltender mask courtesy of Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Mel Foster, the Mallards and The MARK are collecting phone cards for troops. To participate, fans can deposit phone cards (good for 90 minutes or more) into the footlocker located at the new Mallards Team Store at The MARK. The cards will then be distributed to soldiers both domestically and overseas. This campaign kicks off this weekend and will continue until December 15th. All fans that participate will receive two Mallards tickets for the price of one.
