
K-Wings and Fury to help hurricane victims

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that the K-Wings along with the Muskegon Fury will play in two alumni games to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.
The K-Wings and the Fury, who are two of the most storied franchise in minor league hockey, will comprise teams from players that played throughout their franchise history. Kalamazoo's team will include players that donned the K-Wings' crest during both the International Hockey League and UHL. The Fury team will have players that played in all era's of hockey in Muskegon, which includes the Mohawks, Lumberjacks, and Fury.
"The K-Wings and Fury as proud members of the UHL wanted to reach out to our dedicated fans and long time followers to assist the victims of the terrible hurricanes that hit across the U.S. this past year," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "With both member clubs having such a rich hockey tradition we thought by having our alumni participate in a fun game it would help benefit our fans but most importantly the Red Cross and ultimately the victims of the hurricanes."
The first of the two games will be played at Wings Stadium on Saturday, January 21st just before the K-Wings and Fury UHL contest. Face-off for the benefit game will be at 5 p.m. The only way to see the charity game is to purchase a ticket to the K-Wings-Fury UHL game, which will commence at 7:30 p.m.
During the game, K-Wings staff will go into the crowd and look for donations to benefit the hurricane victims. Following the game in Kalamazoo, the K-Wing alumni team will auction off their special game worn jersey's with all the proceeds going to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.
The second game between the teams will be played on Saturday, February 11th at the L.C. Walker Arena. The game will also be the precursor to the K-Wings-Fury UHL game that will face-off in Muskegon at 7:30 p.m. Face-off for the alumni game in Muskegon will be at 5 p.m. Just like in Kalamazoo, the only way to witness the alumni game is to purchase a ticket the UHL game.
