Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants are pleased to announce that 2002-born forward Justin Sourdif (Surrey, B.C.) has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL's Florida Panthers. The Panthers made the news official earlier this afternoon. He was drafted 87th overall by Florida back in October of 2020.
Sourdif was originally selected by the G-Men third overall in the 2017 WHL Prospects Draft. Since then he's appeared in 147 career regular season games (all with Vancouver). In that span he's collected 60 goals and 74 assists for 134 points. He's added two goals and six assists for eight points in 24 career playoff games. Last season Sourdif led all B.C. Division skaters with 34 points (11G, 23A) in 22 games. Offensively he recorded at least one point in 17 of the 22 games for the Giants, and recorded two-or-more points in 10 of those games. Defensively, Sourdif led all Giants forwards with a +10 rating. For his efforts he was named both the team and the B.C. Division Player of the Year.
Internationally Sourdif has represented Canada on numerous occasions. Most recently he attended Hockey Canada's National Junior Team Summer Development Camp in Calgary. Additionally he earned a Silver Medal during the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and served as an alternate captain with Team Canada Red at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Per the Panther's release from today:
"Justin is a dynamic forward who plays the game with speed and skill," said Panthers General Manager Bill Zito. "He demonstrated his abilities as a playmaker in the WHL and we look forward to his development within our organization."
