Prince George Cougars News Release
PRINCE GEORGE, BC- NHL Training Camps opened this week and 10 current and former Cougars are on rosters across the 32-team league.
Ethan Samson is the only current Cougar at an NHL Training Camp. The 18-year-old defenceman was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round, 174th overall, in 2021 NHL Draft. Samson posted 12 points (1g-11a) in 22 games during the 2020-2021 WHL BC Division Hub season.
Defencemen Max Martin and Cole Moberg were invited to the Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks camps after playing last season in the AHL. Martin is signed with the Texas Stars, Dallas' AHL affiliate, for the 2021-222 season. Moberg is on a Professional Tryout with the Sharks after playing last season with the Rockford IceHogs, the Chicago Blackhawks' AHL affiliate. Forward Reid Perepeluk signed a one-year AHL contract with the Stockton Heat, the Calgary Flames affiliate and is attending Flames Training Camp.
Zdeno Chara embarks on his 25th season in the NHL and is going back to where it all began. The former Cougar signed a one-year deal with the New York Islanders, the team that drafted him in the 1996 NHL Draft. Dennis Cholowski is part of the expansion Seattle Kraken.
