Regina Pats News Release
Moose Jaw, Sask. -ÃÂ The Regina Pats won their second straight pre-season game over a Saskatchewan rival on Friday night, as they topped the Moose Jaw Warriors 4-1 on the road.
Four different players scored for the Pats: Zack Stringer, Cole Carrier, Connor Bedard and Jakob Brook.
The Pats are now 3-1-1 so far in the pre-season, while theÃÂ Warriors lost their first game of the exhibition season and are now 3-1.
GAME SUMMARY
The Pats controlled the game right off the bat in this one, gaining offensive zone time and drawing a penalty just over five minutes into the game.
Their early power play cashed in, after Zack Stringer put home a rebound afterÃÂ a Connor Bedard shot from the right sideÃÂ bounced out off the pad of Jackson Unger.
Just 41 seconds later, Cole Carrier sprung past the Warriors' defence and scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0.
After one period of play, the Regiment had a 2-0 lead and 14-9 advantage in shots on goal.
Just 3:14 into the second, Borya Valis made a strong cross-ice pass out of his own zone to Zack Stringer, who entered the offensive zone down the left side and found a streaking Connor Bedard for an easy tap-in to make the score 3-0.
The Warriors got on the board thanks to a power play goal from Logan Doust with four minutes left in the frame to make it 3-1 for the Pats after 40 minutes.
It didn't take long for Regina to restore their three goal lead, as Jakob Brook turned on the jets and went end-to-end early in the third to make it 4-1.
Matthew Kieper was strong againÃÂ on Friday, finishingÃÂ with 36 saves on 37 shots for his thirdÃÂ win of the pre-season. Kieper wasn't the only one frustrating the Warriors, as the home side also hit three posts in the third period alone.
Regina finished the night 2-for-6 on the power play for the second straight game and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
