Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - In a week of great performances, Brad Snyder of the Reno Aces and Justin Marks of the Omaha Storm Chasers were elite, as the Pacific Coast League announced them today as the Player and Pitcher of the Week for August 12th - 18th.

Marks had two dominating, yet unconventional performances last week on his way to a 1-0 record as he only gave up one earned run, one walk and eight hits to go along with 14 strikeouts over 11 innings of relief. On Tuesday, at home against Fresno, the left-hander came on in the fourth inning in relief of MLB rehab starter, Felipe Paulino. The Storm Chasers were unable to overcome an early deficit, but Marks kept their comeback hopes alive by tossing 5 2/3 innings of relief while only giving up two runs (one earned) and striking out seven Grizzlies in a 7-4 loss. Once again spelling Paulino, Marks continued his domination out of the bullpen on Sunday in Memphis, this time shutting the door on the Redbirds after entering in the fourth inning with the Storm Chasers trailing 2-0. He held Memphis to three hits and did not allow a run over the final 5 1/3 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts, earning the win after a five-run fifth inning put Omaha up for good.

Marks, from Owensboro, Kentucky , was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the third round of the 2009 draft out of the University of Louisville. He was acquired by the Kansas City Royals via trade in November of 2010. He is 6-12 with a 4.54 ERA in 21 appearances in his first full season in Omaha.

Snyder collected hits in five of the seven games he played in last week, including four multi-hit performances. The outfielder hit .444 with three home runs, three doubles and eight RBI. He ranked first in the PCL with 24 total bases and a .889 slugging percentage, and was tied for first with 10 runs and six extra-base hits. On Tuesday, Snyder went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Reno's 14-3 win over Nashville, and on Saturday he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs and three RBI in a 9-1 victory at Fresno. He is currently batting .299 with 10 homers and 52 RBI this season for the Aces.

Born in Sandusky, Ohio, Snyder was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 2003 draft out of Ball State University. He was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs in 2008 and made his Major League debut with them on September 7th, 2010. Snyder signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros in 2012 and then with the Arizona Diamondbacks prior to the 2013 season.
