June 2, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Cincinnati News Release
FC Cincinnati midfielder Junior Moreno has been called up to the Venezuela Men's National Team ahead of two International Friendlies in the United States in the upcoming FIFA June International Window, the federation announced today. La Vinotinto will face Honduras on June 15 in Washington, D.C. and Guatemala on June 18 in East Hartford, Connecticut.
Moreno was one of 10 players who play club soccer in the United States called in by Head Coach Fernando Batista, including Inter Miami's Josef Martínez, Real Salt Lake's Jefferson Savarino and Philadelphia Union's José Martínez.
Moreno, a native of San Cristóbal, Venezuela, has earned 37 caps for his country, dating back to his international debut on June 3, 2017 in the United States against the USMNT. He has scored one goal for Venezuela, on June 9, 2017 against Ecuador, in his second cap.
The 29-year-old appeared for his country twice in a pair of International Friendlies in March in Saudi Arabia against the Saudis on March 24 and against Uzbekistan on March 28. He totaled 96 minutes in the midfield, starting the latter of the two games.
Moreno has started and played in 14 regular season games for FC Cincinnati this season. His three goals are a career-high in his sixth season in Major League Soccer.
FC Cincinnati return home Saturday, June 3 to host Chicago Fire FC at 7:30 p.m. The club celebrates Pride, presented by Procter & Gamble. The match will be the seventh sellout in nine home regular season games in 2023 for FC Cincinnati. The match will stream, for free, exclusively on Apple TV, and fans can also listen to the match locally on ESPN 1530 and on SiriusXM FC 157.
