Jung Selected as Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

Wichita, KS (December 26th) - The Central Hockey League announced Wednesday that Thunder goalie Torrie Jung has been selected as the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending on December 23rd. This is the first weekly goaltender award that Jung has earned and the third goalie award claimed by a Wichita netminder this season.
Jung earned his fifth-career shutout this past Friday against Fort Worth in his only start of the week, stopping all 23 shots he faced. Jung came on in relief on December 19th and stopped eight shots in 14 minutes of work against Fort Worth. Wichita goaltenders combined for two shutouts against the Brahmas in just eight days.
The Nanaimo, British Columbia native has been solid this season and has won his last two starts. He spent the past two years in Laredo before joining Wichita in the off-season. In 10 games, Jung is 7-2-0 with a goals against average of 2.69 and a save percentage of .898. Jung becomes the fourth Thunder player to claim a weekly award. Kevin Regan has grabbed two goaltender of the week honors and RG Flath has earned player of the week so far this season.
