ICYMI: Carolina's Michael O'Neal gave up four two-out runs in the first and a two-run homer to Frederick's Conor Bierfeldt in the second in a 7-0 loss to the Keys at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium on Tuesday night. Rehabbing big leaguer Vance Worley started for the Keys and retired nine straight to start the game before Matthew Grimes took over in the fourth. Grimes worked through five scoreless innings and earned the victory for the Keys in his first relief appearance of the season.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Mudcats were shutout for the fifth time this year and fell to 4-5 in shutouts overall this season after last night's 7-0 loss to the Keys in Frederick. The loss also dropped the Mudcats to 0-2 in their current road series in Frederick, giving the Keys a chance for a series sweep tonight at Nymeo Field. The Mudcats have been swept twice this season, with both sweeps coming against Salem (4/18, 4/19, 4/20 vs. SAL and 5/3, 5/3, 5/4 at SAL).

ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The Mudcats continue a seven game road trip with the finale of a three game series tonight in Frederick against the Keys. The Mudcats are coming off a 7-0 loss to the Keys last night and are 2-4 in the current road trip. Carolina was 4-4 versus Frederick in the first half, including a 2-2 mark at home and a 2-2 record on the road. The Mudcats are batting .231 and have pitched to a 3.63 ERA against the Keys this season.

STARTING OFF: Matt Withrow starts tonight for the Mudcats in the finale of a three game series in Frederick against the Keys. Withrow comes in at 5-4 and has pitched to a 3.50 ERA over 13 starts this year. He is also 3-0 in June and has pitched to a 2.52 ERA over five starts this month (25.0 IP, 25 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 12 BB, 29 SO). He last pitched on 6/24 in Myrtle Beach and pitched through 4.1 innings with only two runs allowed on a season high eight hits. The start was his first in the second half and resulted in his fourth no decision of the season. Withrow is currently 11th in the league in earned run average (3.50) and 3rd among qualified starters in average against (.226).

HOT AT THE PLATE: Tanner Murphy is 6-for-17 over his last six games and is batting .353/.522/.588 over his last six... Reed Harper is 7-for-19 over his last five and is batting .368/.368/.526 (7-for-19, 3 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI) in those five games.

TRENDING: The Mudcats bullpen is 3-7 with six saves and a 1.75 ERA since A.J. Minter made his debut on 5/22... A.J. Minter has pitched through seven straight appearances without allowing a run (7 G, 8.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 8 SO)... The Mudcats starting rotation went 2-0 and pitched to a 2.45 ERA over the first five games of the second half (5 GS, 29.1 IP, 29 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 3 HR, 7 BB, 14 SO, .252 AVG)... Carolina's catchers have caught 19 of 60 base stealers since 5/19 (41 SB, .317); raising the club's caught stealing efficiency from .143 to .230 on the season.
