BB&T Ballpark Approaching Two Millionth Fan
June 29, 2016 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Based on current projections, the Winston-Salem Dash are proud to announce that BB&T Ballpark's two millionth fan is expected to arrive on Thursday, July 7, when the Dash welcome the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Currently, a total of 1,983,516 fans have watched the Dash at BB&T Ballpark since the downtown stadium opened in 2010.
Once again, the Dash's home facility is at the top of the leaderboards in the Carolina League in attendance. Currently, BB&T Ballpark has drawn 162,624 people, the best mark in the league.
After a week-long road trip to Potomac and Wilmington, Winston-Salem returns to BB&T Ballpark for a four-game series from July 4-7. The fun begins with a Fourth of July extravaganza that starts at 4 p.m. on First Street and concludes with an extended fireworks show. The finale of the series, which is expected to be the milestone night, is a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday, with select beers available for just $1 through the seventh inning. Fans can purchase their tickets for this historic homestand by calling (336) 714-2287 or visiting wsdash.com.
"The support from the Winston-Salem community has been overwhelming," said Dash President Geoff Lassiter. "We cannot thank our fans enough for their continued support. BB&T Ballpark has become one of the most popular venues in Winston-Salem, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with our fans."
BB&T Ballpark opened on April 13, 2010. Three seasons later, the ballpark surpassed one million fans faster than any facility in Class A-Advanced history (May 16, 2013). BB&T Ballpark is on pace to be the second-quickest facility to two million fans.
In now its seventh season of existence, BB&T Ballpark has hosted two Mills Cup Championship Series, the 2012 California-Carolina League All-Star Game and an exhibition between the Dash and the Chicago White Sox in 2011. This season, the facility was voted the top stadium at the Class A-Advanced level through a fan vote on Ballpark Digest. The stadium also earned the honor of "Ballpark of the Year" from BaseballParks.com in 2010 and has won several local awards over its first seven seasons.
BB&T Ballpark's schedule stretches beyond the Dash's 70 home games each season. Last year alone, the facility welcomed more than 60,000 people for non-Dash events, including weddings, proms, concerts and much more.
The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class A-Advanced Minor League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call (336) 714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com.
