BILOXI, MS - A single by Stone Garrett delivered the winning run for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (13-23) over the Biloxi Shuckers (17-19) in a 2-1 defeat for the Shuckers on Saturday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. RHP Alec Bettinger turned in one of the best outings of his career, tossing seven quality innings for Biloxi.

Justin Twine led off the bottom of the ninth inning for the Jumbo Shrimp with a triple to center field off Shuckers RHP Devin Williams (L, 5-2), bringing up Garrett. The left fielder for Jacksonville roped a 1-0 pitch down the left field line that hit off the wall just in fair territory to end the contest.

Biloxi got their lone run of the game in the in the second. Weston Wilson started the inning with a solo home run to left, his seventh of the season, to put the Shuckers up 1-0. Wilson would finish the night 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored. After allowing the homer to Wilson, RHP Cody Poteet worked around four singles from the Shuckers, allowing just one runner to advance into scoring position the rest of the night.

Bettinger's lone run allowed came in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, John Silviano lifted a ball the opposite way for a home run over the left field wall, his third of the season, to tie the contest at 1-1. Bettinger allowed just two more hits the rest of the night, retiring 16 of the final 18 batters he faced including the final seven in a row. The righty tied a career high with seven innings pitched and struck out seven without walking a batter.

The Shuckers continue their series with the Jumbo Shrimp on Sunday afternoon. Biloxi is scheduled to send RHP Johan Belisario (1-0, 2.95) to the mound against Jumbo Shrimp LHP McKenzie Mills (1-5, 4.50).
