Game #60 - Road Game #25 (25-34), (6-18)

Last time out...
The Freedom fell by a score of 9-3 on Sunday night against the Miners. Rob Kelly singled in Cole Miles to give Florence an early lead but Chris Burke launched a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to put Southern Illinois up 3-1. A Frank Martinez two-run home run in the fifth extended the Southern Illinois lead to 5-1. Niko Vasquez contributed a RBI double in the sixth to make it 6-1 Miners. But Sam Eberle smacked his sixth home run of the year to cut Southern Illinois' lead to 6-2. However that was as close as the Freedom would get as the Miners added one in the seventh and two in the eighth to extend their lead to 9-2. Rob Kelly hit his sixth home run of the season as the Freedom pulled to within six in the top of the ninth but it was too little too late. Florence only recorded five hits in the game. Miguel Ramirez (5-4) tossed a complete game to pick up the victory for the Miners.
For Starters...
Casey Henn is coming off two straight wins, most recently against the Schaumburg Boomers on July 23 as he went six innings, scattering five hits and allowing only two runs in a 5-3 victory for Florence. Henn is currently third in the Frontier League in strike outs with 68 and ninth in the Frontier League in ERA at 2.91. Henn had a sensational rookie season for the Freedom, posting a 5-0 record with a 3.67 ERA for Florence fresh out of Wright State University. In nine appearances, eight starts, Henn struck out 38 batters in 49 innings while only allowing only 39 hits.
Under the .500 mark...
The Freedom have matched their season-low of nine games under the .500 mark, a loss today and they would be 10 games under .500 for the first time in 2014.
What happened to the relief?
The Freedom bullpen posted an outstanding 1.59 ERA in May. They put up a 4.50 ERA in June and so far in the month of July the bullpen has an ERA of 5.46. The relievers have surrendered eight home runs in the month after giving up a combined two long balls in May and June.
Trailing after six...
When the Freedom trail after six innings they have a record of 4-25 on the season. They have not come back from a deficit of more than three runs in 2014.
Road woes...
The Freedom's record of 6-18 on the road is the worst road record in the league. Florence has not won a road series so far in 2014.
Five is the magic number...
When they Freedom score five or more runs they have a 16-6 record on the season.
Mr. Clutch...
All-Star Sam Eberle is hitting a team-leading .352 with runners in scoring position this season. However the Freedom are only hitting .227 overall in that situation. That average drops to .219 as a team with runners in scoring position and two outs.
Where's the offense?!
The Freedom's team batting average of .228 is last in the Frontier League. Their 222 runs scored are the fewest in the league.
Excellent Eberle...
All-Star Sam Eberle leads the Freedom in On-Base Percentage at .421. He also leads the team in multiple hit games with 18.
Transaction Wire...
