FLORENCE FREEDOM (18-23) @ ROCKFORD AVIATORS (24-14)

Thursday, July 2, 2015 - 7:35 p.m. ET

Aviators Stadium - Loves Park, IL

Game #42 - Road Game #18 (18-23), (8-9)

RHP #32 Jeremy Gooding (2-1, 3.60 ERA) vs. LHP #20 Payton Baskette (1-1, 12.79 ERA)

Last time out...

The Freedom got another great performance from Casey Henn and plenty of offense in a 10-1 victory over the Aviators on Wednesday night. Steve Carrillo's RBI single in the second scored the first two runs of the game as Travis Weaver came around on the play on a throwing error. A Sam Eberle bases loaded walk in the fifth followed by a Cody Bishop two-RBI single extended the lead to 5-0. A Weaver sacrifice fly and another Carrillo RBI single netted two more runs for Florence in the seventh. Then Ozzy Gonzalez doubled home three runs in the eighth. Meanwhile, Henn was dominant again as he went seven innings, allowing only an unearned run on two hits to pick up his second straight win. Ryan Davis finished the game with two shutout innings. With the win the Freedom earned their fourth straight victory and their third straight road series win. Florence drew 8 walks in the game, matching their season-high for walks in one game.

For Starters...

Jeremy Gooding makes his fourth start of the year tonight for the Freedom. He is coming off a tough luck 2-1 loss to the Washington Wild Things on June 24 as he went five innings, giving up two runs on six hits. He did not walk anyone and struck out seven in the game. Gooding has gone exactly five innings in each of his three starts for Florence. The 24 year old went to school at Madonna University in Michigan. He made his professional debut in 2014 with the Fort Worth Cats of the United League. He also pitched with Amarillo of the American Association in 2014 and compiled a record of 2-2 with a 1.62 ERA in 8 starts between the two organizations. He struck out 56 batters in 55.2 innings and tossed two complete games with one shutout.

We're going streaking!

This is the Freedom's first four-game winning streak since they started the season by winning their first four games.

Going for the sweep...

With a win tonight the Freedom will earn their first road series sweep of the season. They did not sweep a single road series in 2014.

Getting on the board...

When the Freedom are able to score first in a game this season they have a record of 13-6, compared to a 5-17 mark with the other team scores first.

What a Threll...

Since signing with the Freedom, OF Collins Cuthrell has hit safely in 12 of 16 games, good for a .354 batting average, two homers and six doubles. At D-2 UNC Pembroke, Cuthrell led the entire NCAA in 2015 with 25 home runs.

July was cold in 2014...

The Freedom went 9-17 in the month of July last season, by far their worst month of the year. In 2015 they are off to a 1-0 start, with their win coming on the road last night. They went 2-10 on the road in the month of July last year.

Get on base...

Daniel Fraga has reached base safely in 16 consecutive road games for Florence.

Excellent Eberle...

Sam Eberle has been on fire lately for the Freedom, hitting safely in 10 of their last 11 games (17-43). In their most recent series against Windy City, Eberle went 7-13 with a home run and two RBI.

Walk it out...

The Freedom have drawn 160 walks, the most in the league.

Run this way...

The Freedom's 76 stolen bases this season are the most in the Frontier League. However they have also been caught stealing 29 times, the most in the league as well.

Glovework...

This is a battle of the two best fielding teams according to fielding percentage in the Frontier League. Florence checks in at #1 at .982 while Rockford is tied for #2 at .981.
