Florence Y'alls News Release
(Loves Park, IL) - The Florence Freedom (18-24), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, couldn't get the bats going in a 1-0 loss to the Rockford Aviators (25-14) Thursday night.
The loss snaps the Freedom's four-game winning streak. Jeremy Gooding (2-2) was outstanding in the loss for Florence, going six and two thirds innings, allowing only one run on five hits and striking out five batters.
The Freedom tallied six hits and drew five walks but were unable to push across a run against five different Rockford pitchers. Florence left 10 men on base in the loss. They left the bases loaded in the fourth and left the tying and winning runs on base in both the eighth and ninth innings. Florence also hit into two double plays in the contest.
Meanwhile Elijah Trail hit a solo home run in the seventh for the only run of the game for either team.
Kyle Carter (2-4) and Justin Harris (2-2) recorded multi-hit game for Florence. Harris also drew two walks.
The Freedom return home Friday night to take on the River City Rascals at 7:05 p.m. Seats remain for the Freedom's exciting 4th of July weekend.
