Julien Ellis joins Salmon Kings in Idaho

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that Canucks contracted Goaltender Julien Ellis has been assigned to the Victoria Salmon Kings by the Manitoba Moose.

Ellis, 20, was selected by Vancouver in round 6 (#189 overall) in the 2004 NHL entry draft. He was originally assigned to Victoria on October 31, 2006, and was recalled to Manitoba on January 5, 2007.

In his first stint with the Salmon Kings, Ellis nabbed 663 saves and earned a 0.900 save percentage. With a record of 10-10-0, he set a Salmon Kings first with four straight wins, posted three games with 50 or more saves, and was awarded with a selection to the 2007 ECHL All Star Team, which he could not attend due to the recall to the Moose.

In his return to Manitoba, the 6-foot, 177-lb native of Sorel, PQ played four games and earned a goals against average (GAA) of 2.99 and a 0.906 save percentage.

Ellis joins the Salmon Kings in Idaho to continue their home and home series against the Steelheads. In other roster moves for tonight's game at Qwest Arena at 7:10 p.m. (MT), the Salmon Kings have placed Forward Robin Gomez on the 3-day IR, and activated Defenseman Gustav Engman from the 3-day IR. Netminder Alexandre Vincent has been placed on the 30-day IR.
