July 19, 2007 - Aiken, SC- The Bradenton Juice played a doubleheader for the second consecutive outing on Thursday but the Juice were unable to scratch out a victory as Bradenton lost both games to the Aiken Foxhounds.
The Juice scored first in game one in the 2nd inning with the newest member of the Juice Willie James reaching base on an error and the next batter Luke Palmer drew a walk. Then Julius Thames singled to center field driving home James putting the Juice up 1-0.
Aiken tied the game in the Top of the 4th with Chad Miller leading off with a single to left field and after Miller reached second base on a ground out by Josh Eachues Tim Sweeney singled to center field plating Miller.
The Foxhounds took the lead in the 5th with Steve Dunham leading off by drawing a walk and Scott Houin followed by getting hit by a pitch. Garth McKinney then hit a bunt single and Tony Harper grounded into what looked like a possible double play but Julius Thames' throw to first base was wide of first base. Two runs scored on the fielder's choice and Harper is credited with an RBI so the Foxhounds now lead 3-1.
Aiken goes on to win 3-1 with Steve Dunham (5-5) getting the victory going 6 innings, allowing a run (unearned) on 4 hits, walking 4 and striking out 4 batters. A.J. Montano picked up the Save for Aiken, his 6th of the year.
For the Juice Luke Palmer (1-1) takes loss as he goes 4 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits, he walked 2 and struck out 4.
Of note for the Juice Julius Thames went 2-3 with 2 singles and an RBI in game one.
Things stayed pretty much the same for the Juice in game two as Bradenton fell 12-3.
The Foxhounds started the scoring in the 1st with Chad Miller hitting a two-out triple to right field and the next batter Kelly Hunt hit a single to left field plating Miller putting Aiken up 1-0.
Aiken scored again in the Top of the 2nd when Tim Sweeney hit a solo homer over the right field wall giving the Foxhounds a 2-0 advantage.
The Foxhounds tacked on 4 more runs (2 earned) in the 4th including a solo homerun by Josh Eachues.
The Juice got on the scoreboard in the Bottom of the 4th inning with Al Corbeil launching a solo homer over the right field wall, his team-leading 8th homer and 38th RBI of the season.
Aiken scored 6 runs over the 6th and 7th innings including homeruns by Garth McKinney, Kelly Hunt, and Scott Houin giving the Foxhounds a 12-1 lead entering the Bottom of the 7th.
The Juice scored twice in the Bottom of the 7th with Eddie Kim leading off with a single to left field and Zach Woodward followed with an infield single. The next batter Brenan Hererra hit a single to right field and with the base loaded Willie James hit into a fielder's choice that scored Kim making it a 12-2 Aiken lead. Zach Woodward advanced to third base on the play and up next Drew York hit a deep sacrifice fly to center field plating Woodward and cutting the Juice deficit to 12-3.
Tim Drew (4-3) had a solid outing for the Foxhounds as he picked up the win going 6 innings allowing a run (earned) on 3 hits, he walked 1 and struck out 2.
Pat Ford (2-2) started and took the loss for the Juice as he went 4 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits, he walked 0 and struck out 3 Foxhounds batters.
