Juice Fall to Macon, 8-1

August 3, 2007 - Macon, GA- The Bradenton Juice tried to get its first ever win on a Friday night vs. the Macon Music but it was not in the cards as Bradenton lost 8-1. The Music scored in the first three innings and Bradenton was unable to muster timely hits as the Juice fell to the Music.

The Juice got the scoring started in the 1st inning with Julius Thames leading off with a single to right field and then newcomer Brendan O'Donnell reached base on a fielder's choice. Next Al Corbeil smacked a single to center field before Eddie Kim singled to right field driving home O'Donnell making it 1-0 Bradenton.

Macon stormed back with a vengeance in the bottom of the inning by scoring four runs on five hits including one double and four singles.

The Music added two more runs in the 2nd with Dorian Rojas hitting a one-out double and then Scott Robinson singled to right field. Then Ismael Castro grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Rojas putting Macon on top 5-1. With Chris Colton at the plate Castro stole second base before Colton singled to center field plating Castro giving the Music a 6-1 lead.

Macon added another run in the Bottom of the 3rd when Nick Utley was hit by a pitch with two outs and then Carlos Arroyo's double to left field drove home Utley giving the Music a 7-1 cushion.

The Music added an insurance run in the 6th when Dorian Rojas hit his 3rd extra base hit of the night with a solo homer over the right field wall giving Macon an 8-1 lead.

Lavelle Morgan (5-6) takes the loss on the mound for Bradenton after going 3 innings, allowing 7 runs (all earned) on 9 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3 batters.

Nick Utley (4-1) picks up the win for Macon pitching 6 innings, allowing 1 run (earned) on 7 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4 Juice batters.

Bradenton's second half record falls to 10-10 and 34-30 overall while Macon improves to 13-7 in the second half and 43-22 overall in 2007.

Of note for the Juice Al Corbeil went 2-5 with 2 singles and Luke Barganier went 2-4 with a double and a single.

The Juice will send LHP Brian Gartley to the mound in the series finale, which is also the last meeting this season between the Music and the Juice.
