Joes Walk Off Again, 4-3

Anderson Joes News Release
The Anderson Joes won yet another walk-off game in a row and third in four days Friday, 4-3, over the Aiken Foxhounds in front of 1,764 fans at Anderson Memorial Stadium.
Moments before Brandon Carter hit the game-winning single to center that scored Blake Gailen from second base in the bottom of the ninth inning, a black cat scampered onto the field, streaking in front of the Aiken dugout before leaving the field.
The rest was history.
"As soon as it went off the bat I knew," Carter said about his game-winning hit.
Anderson actually took an early before needing to stage another dramatic comeback. The Joes jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first inning, with Carter and Desi Wilson each scoring on RBI singles by Wilson and Richard Quihuis-Bell, respectively.
After Aiken scored three runs in the top of the second, though, the Joes bats went silent against Foxhounds starting pitcher David Martinez.
Not until the sixth inning did Anderson finally tie the game, when Tanner Rogers hit a double down the left-field line that scored Wilson from first base to knot the score at 3-3.
Each team threatened in the seventh and eighth innings, but the Joes struck yet again in their last trip to the plate.
With two outs, Gailen came to the plate and in just his second at-bat of the night laced a single between relief pitcher Anthony Telford's legs into center field.
Then, with Carter coming up 1-for-4 on the night, a little black magic came along to help the Joes.
"I'm not really superstitious," Carter said. "But black cats? I mean, that's just the kind of luck we've had lately. What are the odds of that?"
The Joes now have seven walk-off wins this season, including four in the last two weeks and three in the last four games alone. Anderson's four-game winning streak is its longest of the season and the Joes set themselves up for potentially their second series sweep of the year Saturday
Notable performers for Anderson included Wilson, who went 2-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Rogers, the only other Joe with two hits.
Anderson's bullpen -- Dave Rider, Tyler Addison, Walker Whitley and Joey Muro -- combined to throw eight innings, allowing just one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five. Joes starter Pete Nickerson left the game in the second inning after a collision at home plate injured his left leg.
Muro earned the win, improving to 2-0, while Telford took the loss, dropping to 1-4.
The Joes and 'Hounds conclude their season series Saturday night at 7:05. Anderson needs a win to salvage a season split of the Palmetto State Rivalry Series, presented by Fairchild Roofing.
"We're just going out there trying to put as many good innings out there as possible," Gailen said of all the recent Anderson theatrics. "Lately it's just been that way for us. We're up two, we're down two, I'm just glad we pulled it out today."
