
Juice Fall In Series Finale Vs. Redfish

Bradenton Juice News Release
Port Charlotte, FL- For the first time since Friday the Bradenton Juice were in the loss column as the Juice lost the final game of the five-game series with the Charlotte County Redfish by a score of 5-3.
The Redfish took the first lead with a run in the Bottom of the 2nd inning. Brad Thoma hit a deep one-out double to left field and then Mike Muscato drew a walk. Two batters later Billy Kovatch singled to center field plating Thomas giving Charlotte County a 1-0 lead.
Bradenton took the lead in the 3rd when Willie James hit a leadoff infield single and the throw to first base went into the Redfish dugout so James was given second base. Then Al Corbeil singled to right field driving home James tying the game at one. Two batters later Brenan Herrera hit into a fielder's choice then Zach Woodward hit an infield single. Up next Drew York walked and with Brendan O'Donnell at the plate Herrera scored from third base on a wild pitch giving the Juice a 2-1 advantage.
Charlotte County did not wait long to even the game at two in the Bottom of the 3rd when Millard Dawson drew a two-out walk. With Brad Thoma at the plate Dawson was caught in a rundown between first and second base but when trying to complete the pickoff first baseman Mikela Olsen's throw to second went off the helmet of a sliding Dawson and into left field. The throw from left fielder Brendan O'Donnell was not in time to get Dawson out at home so he scored tying the game at two.
Bradenton scored again in the 5th when with one-out Brenan Herrera was hit by a pitch and Herrera advanced to second base when Zach Woodward grounded out to second base. With Drew York at the plate Herrera took off for third base and the throw from the catcher sailed into left field allowing Herrera to score giving Bradenton a 3-2 lead.
Charlotte County tied the game in the Bottom of the 6th when Mike Muscato hit a solo homerun over the left field wall tying the game once again now at three.
The Redfish took the lead for good in the 7th when Bill Hogan hit a one-out single to center field and then Hogan advanced to second base when Jason Hurst grounded out to third base. Two batters later Josh Murray singled to right field plating Hogan giving Charlotte County a 4-3 lead.
Charlotte County added an insurance run in the Bottom of the 8th when Brad Thoma led off the inning with a solo homer over the right field wall giving the Redfish a 5-3 cushion.
Lavelle Morgan started for the Juice and he did not fare in the decision after pitching 6 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, walking 4 and striking out 7 batters.
Steve Alverson (2-4) takes the loss for the Juice while reliever Andy Polk (1-0) gets the win in relief for Charlotte County as the Redfish win their second game over their past 11 games. Ryan Amason started and got a no decision for Charlotte County after going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 7 batters.
Bradenton sees its record fall to 15-11 in the second half and 39-31 overall while Charlotte County improves to 7-18 in the second half and 18-52 overall.
Of note for the Juice Al Corbeil went 3-5 with three singles and an RBI while Brenan Herrera was 1-3 with a single and two runs scored.
The Juice are back in action on Thursday starting a three-game series with the top team in the South Coast League the South Georgia Peanuts in Albany. Bradenton's scheduled to start LHP Brian Gartley in game one and he will look for his eighth win of the season.
