Peanuts Get Two-Hit by Juice

South Georgia Peanuts News Release


The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, were shut out for just the third time this season. Bradenton opened a three game series by blanking the Peanuts 2-0.

All the scoring took place in one inning for the Juice. With no score, the Juice put up four runs on four hits in the fifth. Julius Thames and Luke Barganier each had RBI hits while Al Corbeil punctuated the ending with a two-run double scoring Thames and Barganier.

Besides the one four-run inning, pitching was solid for the Peanuts. Starting pitcher Austin Weilep went six innings and allowed the four runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Mike Colacchio pitched two innings of scoreless baseball allowing just one hit. Weilep took the loss and moved to 9-2 on the season.

Bradenton starting pitcher Brian Gartley was very good. He pitched seven innings allowing no runs on just two hits. Wayne Hedden and Rodrigo Escobar each pitched an inning of scoreless baseball.

The Peanuts only mustered two hit son the night with Kyle Keen and Chris Demons each singling. Nick Prosise reached twice with two walks.
