Redfish Left in Dark in Anderson

July 19, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
Charlotte County Redfish News Release

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- The Charlotte County Redfish hoped that their luck would change as headed on the road to Anderson, South Carolina. The Redfish and the Joes got through the first 4 innings of the series opener on Thursday night, but the weather plagued both teams again.

At the start of the ballgame, it was evident that there might be some things that might cause the teams to unable to play a complete ballgame. The scoreboard had a malfunction and it only showed the runs, hits, errors and the home team's line. Redfish starter Celson Polanco and Joes' hurler Ronald Ball were locked in a pitcher's duel through the first 3 innings of the ballgame. After the Joes plated two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to take a 2-0 lead, the lights in centerfield were still not on in the ballpark and the skies were giving way to night.

Managers Cecil Fielder and Desi Wilson talked with the umpires and the game was called due to darkness. The teams will continue the game tomorrow night, July 20th, at 6:05 PM with the Redfish coming to plate in the top of the 5th inning. The Redfish and the Joes then will play their regularly scheduled game a half hour after the conclusion of game 1.

All Redfish games can be heard on 1070 AM WKII and online at www.redfishbaseball.com. For more information, check out www.redfishbaseball.com. Charlotte County Redfish Baseball - Reel in the Fun!
