ANDERSON, SC - Joes' manager Desi Wilson has always felt that his squad was better than their 15-38 record supports. And now he has decided to do something about it...

Wilson will activate himself on Friday, July 20th to the Joes current 23 man roster and take the field again as a player, something he has done his whole life. With the opportunity to play again, Wilson will be able to relate to his players in a whole new light.

"I'm going to have the chance to show these kids how to play the game hard every day," shared Wilson. "We're only 3 ½ games out of first, and all it takes is a little bit of mental toughness and focus, and we'll be right back in this thing."

Last season, Wilson completed his first year as a Chico Outlaw, leading the team in hitting with a .333 average and was selected as a Golden Baseball League All-Star. Wilson is one of the most prolific hitters in minor league history; as he has compiled 1875 hits and a .311 average over sixteen campaigns.

"Desi's track record of on field accomplishments speaks for itself and we feel that he will be a tremendous asset to help our team turn things around in the second half," said Joes GM Garrett Ball.

With a new workload before him, Desi has brought in reinforcements to help manage the club for the remainder of the 2007 season. SCL VP/Director of Baseball Operations will take over as manager on Friday and look to help instill a new attitude into the Joes.

"I've been down this road before and have seen how difficult it is to both manage and play," said Beauchamp, who acted as a player/coach during his time with the New Jersey Jackals. "This is a credit to Desi's playing ability and I look forward to helping him any way I can."

Beauchamp last managed in 2006 for the Pensacola Pelicans of the American Association, and has spent time with the New Jersey Jackals, Lincoln Saltdogs and Adirondack Lumberjacks, as well as working as a hitting coach in the Montreal Expos organization.

"Kash has been involved with the league since the beginning and understands the intricacies and our philosophy on player development," said Ball. "We all expect for him to make a smooth transition into managing the Joes for the rest of the season."
