Juan Camacho's 3-run HR keys a 7-1 win over Sioux Falls

SIOUX CITY, IA -- Third baseman Juan Camacho had not homered since May 21 but his 3 run blast in the 6th inning broke a 1-1 tie and the X's beat the Canaries for their 2nd win in a row, 7-1 Saturday night at Lewis & Clark Park.

With a tie score, Canary starter Benjamin Moore gave up a pair of 1 out walks to Alex Llanos and Chris Grossman and the first pitch he threw Camacho was crushed over the wall in right for the veteran's 4th HR of the year and the RBI total swelled to 35. Camacho has 4 hits in the 2 game series in 7 at bats with 1 walk.

The X's then put the game out of reach with 3 more runs in the 7th. Derek Schermerhorn hit a leadoff double off of Moore. Dustin Jones would hit a perfect bunt up the third base line for a hit and then Jason Tuttle dragged a bunt up the first base line for a RBI infield single scoring Schermerhorn, making it 5-1 X's. That knocked Moore from the game and Ryan Grant came in and Llanos hit a liner to 2nd that Josh Patton dropped for an error to load the bases. Chris Grossman then drilled a full count pitch to right for a 2 run single to make it 7-1.

The night also marked the return of Alexander Francisco to the starting rotation. The rookie right-hander looked like his old self, going 7 innings, allowing just 1 ER on 5 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3. Francisco got his first win since June 7, a complete game win against the Canaries, and improved to 7-1 on the year. Moore took the loss, falling to 6-5.

The lone run for the Canaries was a 2 out RBI single by Ben Van Iderstine in the 4th to tie the game at 1-1. The X's scored their first run on a RBI single by Tuttle in the 3rd.

Camacho led the charge with his 3 run bomb, going 2-4 with 3 RBI. Schermerhorn went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Tuttle went 3-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Sioux City is now 8-6 against the Canaries in the I-29 rivalry and needs 2 more wins in the 5 remaining games to reclaim the I-29 trophy after Sioux Falls took it last year.

Sioux City will go for the sweep in a day game at the Birdcage on Sunday afternoon. It will be the 10th attempt for the X's to win 3 games in a row this season and Dusty Bergman (0-11) will get the start while the Canaries will answer with Ryan Ford (8-3).
