
Josh Beauregard hits two triples despite Tornadoes loss

WORCESTER, MA- The Tornadoes lost to the New Haven County Cutters in the late innings by a score of 9-7 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,076 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Monday night. Despite the loss the Tornadoes were lead by All-Star outfielder Josh Beauregard who had two triples and scored twice tonight with one RBI.
The Cutters started off the game scoring two runs in the first inning with an RBI from Thomari Story-Harden that scored Horace Lawrence. The Cutters added another run in the bottom of the second with an RBI from Jose Delgado.
The Tornadoes tied the game up 3-3 in the second with a 2RBI double from Jeff Lahair. Then they came back and tacked on two more runs in the third with an RBI triple from Josh Beauregard. Chris Colabello followed up with a sacrifice fly to score Beauregard.
Cutters Chas Terni had a double in the fourth and scored to bring them within one run. The Tornadoes would go up 7-4 with the aide of All Star catcher Onix Mercado who got an RBI when he knocked in Josh Beauregard. Along with a sacrifice fly from Tucker Frawley that scored Jeff Lahair.
DJ Mattox pitched five innings giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Dallas Mahan came on to pitch in the sixth inning and retired the side on seven pitches. He pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits (both earned).
The Cutters scored in the eighth inning breaking their silence with an RBI single by Terni that scored Story-Harden. Sandy De Leon grounded out into a fielder's choice but picked up an RBI as Terni scored.
The Tornadoes entered the ninth inning up 7-6 and the Cutters scored three runs in the ninth to pull ahead. Story-Harden had his third double of the night as he hit a ball over Lucas Taylor's head to score Gibson and Lawrence. Story-Harden went on to score himself on a wild pitch by Jamie Merchant.
The Tornadoes were shutout the final three innings of the game with only one hit. Chris Shank (1-2) took the loss while Ryan Bonesio (2-2) picked up the win and Andy Weimer recorded this eighth save of the season.
