Brockton pair sweep awards

DURHAM, NC-- Brockton Rox OF Joe Hough and RHP Jon Koch were selected by Sportsticker, the Can-Am League's official statistician, as Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 3-9.

In seven games, Hough went 10-for-25 (.400) with two home runs, ten runs scored, five RBI, and five stolen bases in leading Brockton to atop the standings with Sussex. This past Friday in a 5-4 victory over the North Shore Spirit, Hough had a 2-for-4 outing with two runs scored and two RBI, which included his second home run of the season. The West Roxbury, MA native is currently hitting .400 with three home runs, eight RBI, 13 runs scored, and seven stolen bases.

Koch had a marvelous week on the mound for Brockton. In five appearances, Koch went 2-0 allowing no earned runs with eight strikeouts and three saves in 7 1/3 innings pitched. The Berrien Springs, MI native is 2-1 on the season with a 2.16 ERA and has 31 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. Koch has seven saves on the season, which is good for a second place tie in the league, and opponents are hitting only .163 against him.

Jon was selected in the 32nd round of the 2002 draft by the Minnesota Twins out of Lake City (FL) College. He pitched one season in the Twins organization playing for the Twins GCL before being released in June of 2004. He has played the last two seasons with the Rox.
