Jose Miranda Named MWL Player of the Week

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Midwest League and MiLB.com announced today that Kernels infielder Jose Miranda has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the period ending July 16th.

Miranda hit .440 (11-25) in six games last week, with two doubles, two home runs and 7 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in Lottery Round B (73rd overall) of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Leadership Christian Academy in Puerto Rico.

Miranda joins Jordan Balazovic and Alex Kirilloff as the Kernels to earn MWL weekly honors this season. Packy Naughton of Dayton was named the MWL Pitcher of the Week for the same period.

The Kernels have a day off on Tuesday and then start a six-game Eastern Division road trip on Wednesday, July 18th with games at Great Lakes and Lansing. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, July 25th to host Clinton at 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM.
