Arkansas Travelers News Release
Little Rock, AR - The Texas League announced, Monday, that Arkansas Travelers RHP Jordan Kipper was named Pitcher of the Week for the week ending 5/22.
In two starts during the week, Kipper went 2-0 and allowed two runs over 16 innings, including a nine-inning no-hitter. In the no-hitter at Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday, the 23-year-old walked the first batter of the game and went on to retire 26 in a row to face the minimum. The nine-inning no-hitter was the first for Arkansas since RHP Ryan Brasier accomplished the feat on April 29, 2010 vs. Tulsa at Dickey-Stephens Park.
In nine starts this season, the Phoenix, AZ native is 4-2 with a 3.63 ERA. Kipper has held lefties to a .209 batting average against him and opponents leading off innings are 11-for-58 (.190).
Kipper was selected by the Angels in the ninth round of the 2014 draft out of TCU.
The Arkansas Travelers will conclude a four-game series vs. Springfield tonight at Dickey-Stephens Park before hitting the road for six. The Travs return home for a six-game home stand beginning Tuesday, May 31. Tickets are available online at www.travs.com, by calling (501) 664-7559 or by stopping by the Dickey-Stephens Park Box Office.
