Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that they have purchased the contract of former Frisco RoughRiders outfielder Jared Hoying. He will be active and in the lineup for tonight's Rangers home game with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Hoying is the 143rd former RoughRiders player to make the big leagues.

Hoying, 27, has appeared in 41 games with Round Rock this season batting .319 with seven home runs, including two grand slams, while leading the Express with 32 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

In 2014, Hoying set career-highs with 26 home runs and 78 RBI with Round Rock. He was a 2014 Pacific Coast League Mid-Season All-Star and earned MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors following the season.

In 104 games with Frisco across the 2012 and 2013 seasons, the Fort Loramie, Ohio native hit .263 with nine home runs and 49 RBI.

Hoying joins four former Riders who have made the Major Leagues for the first time this season: Nomar Mazara (2014-2015 with Frisco, debuted with Texas Rangers), Brett Nicholas (2013 with Frisco, Rangers), Cody Ege (2015 with Frisco, Miami Marlins), and Matt Bush (2016 with Frisco, Rangers).

The Riders head back on the road for a six-game trip, starting with three games in Tulsa Tuesday through Thursday. The RoughRiders return home next Tuesday, May 31 to begin a six-game homestand against the Tulsa Drillers and the Springfield Cardinals. The homestand includes Superhero Night on Saturday, June 4th. Tickets for that game and the other games on the homestand are available now online at RidersBaseball.com, via email at info@ridersbaseball.com, over the phone at (972) 731-9200, or in-person at the RoughRiders box office.
