Waterloo Bucks News Release

Waterloo Bucks (4-1) righthander Zach Jones tossed 6.0 innings of one-run baseball and Mike Nyisztor (3-3, 2 BB, 4 R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SB) reached all five times and scored on four occasions as part of a 7-1 win over the Rochester Honkers (3-2)

Nyisztor opened the scoring with a two-run single in the second, followed by a Blake Berry double that plated a pair. Waterloo struck for their fifth run as Nyisztor stole second with two out in the fourth before Dylan Phillips (1-2, BB, HBP, 2 RBI, SF) brought him in with an RBI single. Nyisztor scored again in the sixth on a Phillips sacrifice fly, then touched home in the eighth on an Alex Ronnebaum run-scoring groundout.

Seven runs was more than enough for Jones, who celebrated his birthday while making the start. Over his 6.0 frames, Jones struck out 7 while scattering five hits and walking none. Adam Keletsen, Drew Irvine and Connor Anderson each fired a shutout inning of relief with four combined strikeouts and only two baserunners allowed.

Waterloo is now alone in first place in the Great Plains-East division with a Duluth loss to Eau Claire this evening, and will battle the Honkers on the road Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. All the action can be heard on the Bucks Radio Network powered by 1650 The Fan.
