JOHNSON CITY, TN - Brandon Purcell's two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning at TVA Credit Union Ballpark lifted the Johnson City Cardinals (19-17) to a 5-4 win over the Greeneville Reds (16-20) Friday night.
Trejyn Fletcher drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first, moved to second on a ground out, stole third, and scored the Cardinals first run on Todd Lott's RBI-double. Lott then stole third, and scored on Chandler Redmond's sacrifice fly.
Carlos Soler's solo home run to right field in the bottom of the second off LHP Jose Salvador extended Johnson City's lead to 3-0.
In the next half inning, Ivan Johnson hit a one-out, solo home run to right center field off RHP Julio Puello put Greeneville on the board.
Carlos Reina opened the fourth with a double, and moved to third on Raul Juarez's single. Danny Lantigua's sacrifice fly scored Reina, and cut the Reds deficit to one. Allan Cerda and A.J. Bumpass both walked leading off the fifth. Cerda moved to third on a fly out, and scored on Tyler Callihan's game-tying RBI ground out.
Juarez hit a solo home run to left center field on the second pitch of the sixth off RHP Tyler Peck (W, 2-2) to give the Reds their first lead.
RHP Patrick Raby (L, 1-1) worked two perfect innings in relief before walking Liam Sabino to begin the seventh. After Soler grounded out, Purcell hit a go-ahead two-run home run off Raby to left field.
