Johan Venegas and Ambroise Oyongo Selected for International Duties

MONTREAL - Midfielder Johan Venegas and defender Ambroise Oyongo have been selected by their national team to take part in upcoming international games.

Venegas, who recently helped Costa Rica reach the CONCACAF hexagonal round in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification, will join Los Ticos for a friendly game against Russia on October 9 in Krasnodar, Russia.

Venegas has scored six goals in 27 games with the Costa Rican national team, making his senior debut on September 3, 2014, against Nicaragua in the Copa Centroamericana. He recently played in the Copa America Centenario in the United States, scoring his sixth international goal on June 12 in a 3-2 against Colombia. He has also appeared in four 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup matches and four 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification games.

Oyongo and the Lions Indomptables will face Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille on October 5 at Centre d'entrainement Robert Louis-Dreyfus in an exhibition game before going to Alger to meet the Algerian national team on October 9 in the first group stage game of the third round of CAF qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Nigeria and Zambia are also part of the group.

Oyongo has played 17 games for Cameroon, scoring his first goal on January 20, 2015, in a 1-1 draw with Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations. He made his debut with the selection on September 6, 2014, against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
