Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Lancaster CA - The Inland Empire 66ers gave up a season-high four homers including two to Lancaster Designated Hitter Garrett Stubbs, in a 11-4 loss at The Hangar. The loss was Inland Empire's third in a row and dropped the 66ers to 3-23 against the California League's Southern Division.

Taylor Ward gave the 66ers (11-29) a lead in the first when he drove in Caleb Adams with a RBI single after Adams had walked and stole second (his fourth of the year). The lead was short lived as the JetHawks (17-20) tied it two batters into the bottom of the first when Stubbs launched his first homer of the game. Jamie Ritche later singled in another run off IE starter Jason Hoppe to make it 2-1. The JetHawks made it 4-1 in the second on Ramon Laureano's two-run double.

Inland Empire came back in the top of the fourth with three runs to tie the game 4-4. Hutton Moyer doubled and Ward followed with a walk. Wade Wass then doubled those runners in and tied the game when Jeff Boehm's RBI single scored him. The tie was also short-lived.

IE reliever Dixon Llorens (1-1) walked the nine-hole hitter Luis Reynoso to open the bottom of the fourth and then Drew Ferguson bunted for a base hit. A balk moved the runners to second and third and Stubbs connected for his second dinger of the night and third of the year to make it 7-4. The JetHawks added three more in the seventh on back-to-back homers by Bryan Muniz and Jason Martin. Brooks Marlow added a sac fly in the eighth to make it 11-4. Ryan Deemes (1-0) was credited with the win with one inning out of the pen. Brock Dykxhoorn earned his first save with four innings of shutout work.

The series concludes on Thursday at 6:35 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO.
