San Bernardino, CA- The Lancaster JetHawks scored in bunches in a 9-1 win over the Inland Empire 66ers at San Manuel Stadium on Thursday. Lancaster (27-26) scored multiple runs in multiple innings and guaranteed themselves a series-win and an opportunity to secure a sweep in the series finale on Friday.

In the second inning Bryan Muniz drilled a double on a 1-2 count against Inland Empire (18-36) starter Jeremy Rhoades (1-6). Jason Martin followed by walking on four pitches. JetHawks' second baseman Aaron Mizell then launched a towering homer three-quarters up the 66ers' enormous video board in right-center for a three-run homer and a 3-0 lead. Lancaster added to the lead in third with two runs when catcher Garrett Stubbs lifted a two-run homer out to right to make it 5-0. The dinger was Stubbs' sixth, his third against the Sixers.

Inland Empire had a promising start to the bottom of the second against JetHawks' starter Trent Thornton. Eight-hole hitter Jeff Boehm singled and Josh Delph followed with a base hit. Tim Arakawa then singled to load the bases with no outs. Zach Welz lifted a sac-fly to left to score Boehm and make it 5-1. The Sixers failed to score again as Thornton worked out of the jam with no more damage. Thornton went six innings allowing six hits and a walk while fanning five to improve to 2-2 on the year.

The JetHawks added four runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Mizell opened the inning with a double, his third hit of the game. He finished 3-for-4 with a double and a homer. Johnny Sewald followed with a double. Antonio Nunez had a RBI single in the frame as did Brooks Marlow. The final line on Rhoades was 6.0 IP, 8H, 8ER, 1BB, 3K. Lancaster reliever Ryan Thompson tossed three perfect innings of relief with four Ks to earn his second save of the year. Lancaster pitching set down 13 consecutive batters to end the night.
