STOCKTON, Calif. - The home woes continued for the Stockton Ports on Thursday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Stockton jumped out to an early lead, but never added to it as the Ports scored their lone run of the night in the first inning and saw the Bakersfield Blaze get a pair of late runs to beat them by a final of 2-1.Stockton is now 7-19 in home games this season.

The Ports plated their only run in the first as B.J. Boyd drew a two-out walk and scored on an ensuing double by Joe Bennie to give Stockton a 1-0 lead, a lead they nursed until the seventh. Blaze starter Tyler Pike would dazzle the Ports over his five innings of work. Pike recorded only three outs on balls put in play as he struck out a career-best 12 batters and received a no-decision, allowing three hits while walking two.

Ports starter Heath Fillmyer pitched around a two-out walk in the first, a leadoff single in the second, a one-out walk in the third and back-to-back singles that put runners at the corners with nobody out in the fourth. Fillmyer would also be rendered a no-decision as he went five scoreless innings and allowed three hits while walking a season-high three and striking out six.

Joey Wagman (0-2) took over for the Ports in the sixth and pitched around a leadoff walk and one-out single in his first inning of work. In the seventh, Wagman allowed back-to-back singles to open the frame and then committed an error on a sacrifice bunt that loaded the bases with nobody out. Jay Baum would come up next and tie the game on a sac-fly to center.

Wagman pitched into the eighth and gave up a leadoff single to Austin Wilson. Wilson advanced to second on wild pitch, third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an RBI single by Joe DeCarlo to give the Blaze a 2-1 advantage.

Wagman suffered the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in two-and-a-third innings. Carlos Navas pitched a perfect inning-and-two-thirds to close out the ballgame for Stockton.

Jacob Zokan (1-0) took over for Pike in the sixth inning and pitched two scoreless frames to pick up the win. Kody Kerski (SV, 1) pitched around leadoff singles in the eighth and ninth to pick up his first save of the season.

The Ports and Blaze play the finale of their three-game series on Friday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Casey Meisner (0-8, 4.09 ERA) makes the start for Stockton, opposed by Bakersfield left-hander Eddie Campbell (4-4, 4.96 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
