SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Trent Thornton allowed just one run over six innings and received help from his lineup with two early home runs as the JetHawks beat the Inland Empire 66ers, 9-1, on Thursday night at San Manuel Stadium.

With the win, Lancaster (27-26) moved a game above .500 for the first time since they were 5-4 on April 17.

Aaron Mizell put the JetHawks up in the second inning with a three-run home run, his second home run in just his third game with the club. Garrett Stubbs added to the lead with a two-run homer in the third, his sixth of the season.

Thornton (2-2) allowed his lone run in the third inning. Inland Empire (18-36) loaded the bases with no outs in the frame, but the right-hander was able to limit the damage to just one run on a sacrifice-fly. He allowed six hits, struck out five and walked one on the night.

Ryan Thompson struck out four over three perfect innings of relief to notch his second save of the season.

The JetHawks added their final four runs in the seventh inning. Mizell led off with a double and promptly scored on a Johnny Sewald double. Antonio Nunez followed with an RBI-single to chase starter Jeremy Rhoades (1-6) from the game. Lancaster added their final run later in the inning on a Brooks Marlow single.

Mizell came to the plate once more in the eighth inning and struck out. He finished the night a triple shy of the cycle.

The JetHawks look for a sweep of the 66ers in the series finale on Friday night at San Manuel Stadium. Josh James (3-2) gets the start for Lancaster against Jake Jewell (0-5). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
