Jeffers, Varnado Selected to NBA D-League All-Star Game

New York, NY February 3, 2014 - The NBA D-League today announced that Iowa Energy's guard Othyus Jeffers and center Jarvis Varnado have both been selected to participate in the annual NBA D-League All-Star Game. The game will take place on Saturday, February 15th in New Orleans.

Jeffers has averaged 22.8 points and 11.4 boards in 22 games for the Energy. He recently received a call-up from the San Antonio Spurs on January 24th for a 10-day contract. Jeffers has appeared in 4 games for the Spurs this season.

Varnado has put up 14.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game for the Energy this season. Sidelined recently due to injury, he has appeared in 19 games for Iowa and sits atop the NBA D-League in blocks with 5.0 per game.

The two Energy players will play for Prospects team, coached by Rio Grande Valley Vipers Head Coach Nevada Smith and his staff. Jeffers and Varnado are joined by Isaiah Canaan (Rio Grande Valley), Robert Covington (Rio Grande Valley), Troy Daniels (Rio Grande Valley), Ike Diogu (Bakersfield), Devin Ebanks (Texas), Melvin Ely (Texas), Ron Howard (Fort Wayne), and Christapher Johnson (Rio Grande Valley).

The NBA D-League All-Star Game will take place at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. ET.
