Mad Ants Acquire Brian Butch

FORT WAYNE, IN (February 3, 2014) -The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by the Lutheran Health Network have acquired forward Brian Butch in a trade with the Bakersfield Jam. Bakersfield traded Butch to the Mad Ants for Fort Wayne's original 2014 second round D-League Draft pick and the returning player rights to Anthony Richardson.

Butch, a 6'11" forward out of Wisconsin, has played for the Bakersfield Jam for four seasons, earning a spot on the NBA D-League All-Star team in 2010 where he scored 18 points and 13 rebounds in the All-Star game and was selected as the NBA D-League All-Star game MVP. In four seasons with Bakersfield, Butch has averaged 14.4 points and 10.6 rebounds over 129 games for the Jam. He was named to the All D-League First Team after averaging 11.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game during the 2012-13 season. Butch recorded a season high 32 points and 18 rebounds on November 26, 2013 in a 139-140 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Butch will make his debut for the Mad Ants on Wednesday night as Fort Wayne travels to Erie for a 7:00pm tip-off. The Mad Ants will return to Fort Wayne to play the Sioux Falls Skyforce Saturday, February 8th at 7:30pm at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
