
Jared Goedert Leads Aeros to 4-0 Win on Sunday

The Akron Aeros stopped their four-game losing skid on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park in front of 2,712 fans. Russell Branyan made his second rehab start at first base where he went 1 for 4 with a run scored on the afternoon. Sunday's win puts the Aeros at a 6-5 record before welcoming in the Altoona Curve into town for a three game series starting Monday night at Canal Park.
The Aeros jumped out to another early lead in the second inning when Jared Goedert connected with his first home run of the season. Goedert came to the plate with one man on when he took Zach Britton's pitch deep into left-field putting the Aeros up 2-0. The Aeros would plate two more runs in the very next inning as Lonnie Chisenhall and Russell Branyan both singled to start the inning and Matt McBride grounded out to advance the runners to second and third. Goedert hit a line drive to right-field scoring both Chisenhall and Branyan putting the Aeros up 4-0.
Putnam worked six scoreless innings and allowed just five hits while striking out four Baysox. Putnam is now 2-0 on the year with an impressive 1.20 ERA through three starts for Akron, giving up a total of three runs in 15 innings. The Aeros bullpen had a solid outing giving up no runs and walking only two batters. Erik Stiller came into the game and pitched a total of 1.2 innings giving up no runs, walking one and striking out one. Aeros closer Neil Wagner came into the game and shut the door on Bowie pitching 1.1 innings, walking one and got Ryan Adams to pop up to John Drennen to end the game 4-0.
The Aeros will welcome to town the Altoona Curve for a three game set starting Monday night at 7:05 at Canal Park. Check out the first Dollar Dog Monday at Canal Park where hot dogs are just a dollar all game long. The Aeros remain at home for three more games against Altoona. Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. and a special start time of 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday before heading to Bowie for a four-game set before traveling to Altoona.
