TODAY: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Reading Phillies will meet in the finale of a four-game series...The Flying Squirrels clinched their first-ever series victory with a 4-1 win over the R-Phils on Saturday night at The Diamond.

TODAY'S STARTERS: Right-hander Mike MacDonald gets the start in the finale of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no-decision after working six scoreless innings 4/13 at Altoona...Allowed just four hits while striking out four and walking two...Lost 1-0 in 14 innings...Two of the four hits went for extra bases...Leadoff man reached in three of his five innings on the mound...Stranded five runners in scoring position...Recorded nine ground outs and three fly outs in addition to the four strikeouts...Went 0-for-2 with two strike outs in his first two professional at-bats.

Right-hander Vance Worley gets the nod in the finale of the series for the Phillies...Suffered his second straight defeat after allowing five runs on six hits in five innings 4/13 against New Hampshire...Struck out two and walked four...Took the loss on Opening Day for the R-Phils after giving up four runs on five hits in just 4 1/3 innings pitched against Portland...Earned EL mid season All-Star honors with Reading in 2009...Went 5-4 with a 3.63 ERA in his first 15 starts (April-June)...Was just 2-8 with a 7.73 ERA over his final 12 starts (July-September)...He and Mike Stutes became the first players to start the season in Reading in their first full season since Pat Burrell in 1999 and the first pitchers to do so since Randy Wolf in 1998...Selected by Philadelphia in the third round of the 2008 First-Year-Player Draft out of Long Beach State University.

WINNING WAYS: The Flying Squirrels are on their first official winning streak in franchise history after claiming last night's contest...The streak comes on the heels of a season-long five game losing skid...During the streak, Richmond has never trailed, leading in 22 of 27 innings...The Flying Squirrels have been tied with the Phillies 0-0 in the other five frames.

ON THE ATTACK: The Flying Squirrels enjoyed their most productive inning of the season last night in the bottom of the sixth...Richmond sent a season-high eight men to the plate scoring a season-best three runs on a season-best four hits...All three runs scored were unearned due to a pair of Reading errors.

LONELY TRIPS: Andy D'Alessio blasted the sixth home run of the season for the Flying Squirrels, a leadoff shot in the bottom of the third inning last night...All six Richmond long balls have come with no one on base...D'Alessio's round tripper was the fourth leadoff home run for the Flying Squirrels...The club ranks fifth in the Eastern League in home runs.

DIAMOND DEFENSE: The Flying Squirrels lead the Eastern League in fielding percentage at .988...The club has made just five errors through the first 10 games, second-fewest in the 12-team circuit...Portland has committed four errors through eight games...Richmond is also tied for third with nine double plays turned...Binghamton and Erie have each turned 11 double plays.

PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels have allowed just two runs over the last 28 innings on the mound...The staff has lowered its ERA from 3.41 to 2.57 in the process...Richmond is ranked fourth in the 12-team Eastern League in staff ERA.

CATCH OF THE DAY: Richmond catcher Jackson Williams has hits in each of his first eight games this season...The 23-year-old is 10-for-25 (.400) at the plate with three doubles, a home run, and two RBI...He leads the team and is third in the Eastern League in batting average...Williams hit just .223 in 105 games with Connecticut last season and is a career .217 hitter in 244 professional games...The Oklahoma product has also thrown out 50% of would-be base stealers (4-for-8), tops in the Eastern League.

NO SHOCKER: Wichita State product Connor Gillaspie went 1-for-3 with a walk, run and his 10th RBI last night...He has driven in 10 of the club's 23 runs...The 22-year-old is tied for second with three home runs and is tied for second with the 10 RBI...Gillaspie hit four home runs and drove in 67 runs in 2009 with Advanced-A San Jose...The former supplemental first round pick (#37 overall) entered the 2010 season rated as the #17 prospect in the Giants organization according to Baseball America.

HORSESHOES AND HAND GRENADES: All 10 games for the Flying Squirrels this season have been decided by three runs or less..A save has been recorded for the victorious team in nine of the 10...The average margin of victory/defeat is 2.1 runs (21R/10G).

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Daniel Turpen entered last night's game with the bases loaded and nobody out and got out of the jam without a run scoring...Overall, Richmond relievers have inherited nine base runners and have only allowed two to score (78%).
