Janssen Recalled; Bergfors To Play In WJC

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats announced today that right wing Cam Janssen has been recalled by the New Jersey Devils, while center Nicklas Bergfors has been assigned to play for Team Sweden in the upcoming World Junior Championships.

Janssen, 21, has one goal and three assists for four points and ranks seventh in the American Hockey League with 117 penalty minutes in 25 games during the 2005-06 season. He went scoreless with one shot and a minus two rating in his first two NHL match-ups earlier this season. The St. Louis Missouri native led the River Rats and all American Hockey League rookies with 337 penalty minutes during the 2004-05 campaign. He was drafted by the Devils with their sixth choice (117th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Bergfors, 18, has scored five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 24 games during his first professional season. He began the 2005-06 campaign as the AHL's youngest player after being selected by New Jersey with their first choice (23rd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Bergfors will join Team Sweden at the 2005 IIHF World Junior Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia from December 25 - January 4, 2006. The tournament begins with a round robin format with the playoffs beginning on New Year's Day.

The Albany River Rats, owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., are in their 13th American Hockey League campaign and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
