Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Anders Eriksson has decided to play professionally in Russia and has been released from his Professional Tryout Agreement with the Falcons.

Eriksson, 30, is in his 11th professional season and collected one goal and eight assists for nine points in 12 games with the Falcons this season. Eriksson has collected 21 goals and 109 assists for 130 points in 412 career National Hockey League games spending time with the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets. The 6-foot-3, 218-pound native of Bollnas, Sweden was the Red Wings' first selection, 22nd overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. Eriksson spent the 2004-05 campaign playing in the Swedish Elite League collecting one goal and nine assists for 10 points and 54 penalty minutes in 32 games.

The Falcons return to action on Friday, December 23 when they travel to Providence to take on the Bruins at 7:05 PM. All games can be heard live on the Falcons Hockey Network, WMAS AM 1450, as "The Voice" of the Falcons John Michael handles the play-by-play duties. All games can also be seen live through the B-2 Network for only $6.00.
