
Janesville vanquishes MN Magicians in shootout, 4-3 (3-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Janesville Jets defeated the MN Magicians Magicians in a shootout 4-3 (3-0 SO).
The shootout lasted for seven attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Janesville got shootout goals from Michael Louria and Jordan Himley.
Drew Callin was all over the ice for the Jets, as he had two goals in the win. Callin found the back of the net 10:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Janesville and again while 3:54 into the third to make the score 3-2 Janesville.
MN Magicians' power play was ineffective against Janesville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
The the Jets penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. Janesville surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jets put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.0 they average per game.
Himley also scored for Janesville. More assists for Janesville came via Adam Winborg and Louria, who each chipped in one.
The Magicians racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game MN Magicians had been spending in the box. The Magicians' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Janesville power plays. MN Magicians' offense was clicking better than usual and put 50 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.4 shots per game it averages.
The Magicians were helped by Colin Hernon, who finished with one goal. Hernon scored 5:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Janesville. Travis Koepke picked up the assist. MN Magicians also got a goal from Nicholas Kuchera as well. In addition, MN Magicians received assists from Matt Colford and Cody Milligan, who contributed one a piece.
Brock Kautz made 47 saves for Janesville on 50 shots. Atte Tolvanen recorded 26 saves for MN Magicians.
